What do you wish you could do more every day?

Let’s be honest, life can feel like a constant whirlwind, right? Between work deadlines, errands, and social obligations, it’s easy to feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day. But even with all the busyness, there are those little things we sometimes push aside – activities that leave us feeling refreshed, energized, or simply content.

So, I got to thinking: what if we all took a moment to reflect on those things? What do we wish we could do more of each day, even if it meant carving out just a little extra time?

The Wish List

Life may be full of commitments, but there are definitely activities that leave me feeling recharged and ready to tackle anything. Here are a few things I wish I could squeeze into my day more often:

  1. Meditation Magic: Taking just 10-minutes each morning to meditate completely changes my perspective. It helps me clear my head, focus my energy, and approach the day with a sense of calm. Ideally, I’d start each morning with a guided meditation session before the emails and to-do lists take over.
  2. Unplug and Recharge: Let’s face it, the constant notifications and digital demands can be draining. Spending some quality time unplugged, whether it’s reading a book for 30 minutes before bed or taking a phone-free walk during lunch, allows me to truly unwind and reconnect with myself. The ideal scenario? An evening free from screens, curled up with a good book and a cup of tea.
  3. Fueling Creativity: Learning a new skill, like playing the guitar (which has been sitting neglected in the corner for far too long!), sparks creativity and a sense of accomplishment. Ideally, I’d dedicate at least 20 minutes each evening to practicing and challenging myself creatively.
  4. Connection Counts: In the daily rush, it’s easy to let meaningful conversations with loved ones fall by the wayside. Spending quality time, phone-free and present, with friends and family fills me with warmth and strengthens those important bonds. The perfect scenario? A weekly, uninterrupted dinner night where we can truly connect and catch up.
  5. Embrace the Outdoors: A quick walk or jog in nature does wonders for both my physical and mental well-being. Getting some fresh air and sunshine clears my head and boosts my energy levels. Ideally, I’d start each day with a brisk walk in the park, but even a lunchtime stroll would be a welcome break.

Overcoming Obstacles: Making Time for What Matters

Let’s be real – adding anything new to our already overflowing schedules can feel daunting. Work deadlines loom large, family obligations demand our attention, and sometimes that “me time” gets pushed to the bottom of the list.

We’ve all been there. But the key to overcoming these hurdles lies in recognizing the importance of these activities and implementing some practical strategies.

Here are a few tips to help you squeeze in those activities that bring you joy and fulfillment:

  1. Embrace Time Blocking: Schedule your desired activities just like you would any important meeting. Block out dedicated time slots in your calendar for meditation, exercise, or unplugging. Treating these activities with the same importance as work commitments helps ensure they actually happen.
  2. The Power of “No”: We all want to be helpful and supportive, but constantly saying yes to every request can leave us depleted. Learn to politely decline commitments that don’t align with your priorities. Freeing up that extra time allows you to focus on the things that truly matter to you.
  3. Small Wins Matter: Don’t underestimate the power of small pockets of time. Even a 5-minute meditation session or a 10-minute walk can make a big difference. Utilize these mini-breaks throughout your day to sneak in some self-care or pursue a hobby. Every little bit counts!

The beauty lies in the fact that you don’t need a complete overhaul of your life to reap the benefits. Small, consistent changes can lead to big results.

Take Sarah, for example. A busy working mom, she constantly felt overwhelmed and stressed.
