Dear Past Me, You’re Wearing That? (And Other Crucial Life Updates)

What advice would you give to your teenage self?

Alright, teenage me. Let’s have a little chat. You know, the kind of chat where I act like I’m not judging your questionable fashion choices. Also, your obsession with that band you’ll cringe at in five years. Yeah, that one.

So, you want advice? Buckle up, buttercup, because Future You has seen some things. And by “things,” I mean mostly embarrassing moments and questionable hair experiments.

  1. Sunscreen. Seriously. Just Do It.
Look, I know you think you’re immortal and that a tan is the ultimate symbol of coolness. But trust me, future you has wrinkles that could double as a topographical map of the Grand Canyon. And those “cute” freckles? Yeah, those are sunspots now. Embrace the pale! It’s in! (Or it will be, eventually. Maybe.)
  2. That Crush? They’re Probably Thinking About Pizza.
I know, I know. They smiled at you in math class! It must mean they’re planning your wedding. Or, more likely, they’re wondering if they remembered to ask their mom to buy extra pepperoni. Don’t waste your time decoding every glance. Focus on mastering the art of the perfect eye roll. It’ll come in handy later.
  3. Your “Unique” Fashion Sense? Yeah, About That…
Those neon leg warmers and that band t-shirt with the sleeves you cut off with kitchen scissors? You’ll look back at those photos. You might wonder. Were you trying to audition for a time capsule of questionable 90s trends? Invest in a good pair of jeans. And maybe a mirror.
  4. That Thing You’re So Worried About? You’ll Forget It By Next Week.
Remember that time you tripped in the cafeteria and spilled your lunch on the school bully? Yeah, that felt like the end of the world. But guess what? Nobody remembers it. They’re too busy worrying about their own embarrassing moments. Trust me, the world keeps spinning, even if you spill spaghetti on your nemesis.
  5. Learn to Cook Something Other Than Microwaved Popcorn.
Future you is tired of living on takeout and questionable instant noodles. Learn to make a decent pasta sauce. Your future stomach (and social life) will thank you.
  6. Stop Comparing Yourself to Everyone Else.
Seriously, social media (or whatever its equivalent is in your time) is a highlight reel. Everyone is posting their best moments. You’re seeing the perfectly curated version of their lives, not the messy, awkward reality. Focus on your own journey. You’re awesome, even if you don’t have a million followers.
  7. Be Kind. To Yourself.
You’re going to make mistakes. You’re going to say stupid things. You’re going to have bad hair days. It’s all part of growing up. Laugh at yourself, learn from your blunders, and remember that everyone else is just as clueless as you are.
  8. And Finally, Enjoy Being a Teenager!
Yes, it’s awkward and confusing and sometimes downright painful. But it’s also a time of discovery and adventure. Don’t rush it. Take time to have fun, make memories, and maybe even learn a thing or two.

Oh, and one last thing: invest in Apple stock. You’re welcome.

Sincerely,

Your Slightly More Mature (But Still Kinda Clueless) Future Self.
